Lent is an old word, which means “spring.” As winter passes into spring we seek to focus our attention on renewing our relationship with Jesus. By dwelling with the Word of God, responding to the grace of God in prayer, and through other Christian practices, we deepen our discipleship, opening our lives to God and building trust with each other and friendship in Christ.
Lent is a 40-day Christian season, which begins with Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on March 6. In this spiritual season, we seek God’s help and the encouragement of spiritual friendship and community to strengthen the spiritual rhythms of our days and weeks.
